Sterilization action mechanism of H2O2 gas

  • H2O2 is a sterilization agent to destroy Cell membrane, DNA, other essential components of cell and kill microorganism by producing hydroxyl-free radicals which can destroy spore and is major component of sterilization. Meanwhile, H2O2 is decomposed into H2O and O2 environmental-friendly.

PLASMA is one of the 4th fundamental states of matter (the others being solid, liquid, and gas).
Among materials, Liquid has the lowest energy. So, heat or energy is applied to material, it’s temperature is increased and it turns from Solid to Liquid and Gas to Plasma step by step.
Plasma is loosely described as an electrically neutral medium of positive and negative particles (i.e. the overall charge of a plasma is roughly zero).

- Oxidation ability of oxidizing agent is defined as ability to take electron from material. When environmental friendly H2O2 is exposed to Plasma gas, and then Hydroxyl radicals with 2nd strong oxidizing potential among agent are produced from H2O2 gas. The Hydroxyl radical (OH-) and other radicals kill all microorganisms.

The theory of Plasma Sterilizer

The reaction of Plasma and H2O2 gas disrupts the metabolism of microorganisms. Hydrogen peroxide gas completely decomposes into vapor water and oxygen as a byproduct.
